Last week, Wendy and I were at a Scottish Reformed Presbyterian Church in the Hebrides. They sang psalms, seated and unaccompanied, and stood for a prayer. I was the only man not wearing a suit. Wendy was the only lady not wearing a hat. The sermon from their minister, Kenneth Stewart, was 45 minutes. But – we were made to …

Feast!
Sickness, holidays, house renovations and other things left us rather thin on the ground… with guest speakers coming, and a Liberty lunch. (But so many more than a few years ago). This is a downside of small house church, but daughters locally can always use a pile of quiches and container of cold meats. And speakers anointed by God see …

The meeting started with prayer requests and testimonies. Answered prayer concerning greatly improved health encouraged us to pray for those needing it. So we did, at the beginning of the meeting. Praise, worship, prayer, and further testimony. We looked at 1 Corinthians 11:23-31. Communion is special, and a time for focusing on Jesus and Calvary. Read the whole Bible, and …

We have lots of grandchildren. “One of the best things about staying with Grandpa and Nannie, is the church in their home on Sundays,” a granddaughter confided in her mother. We have had 9 grandchildren and a few daughters and a son-in-law staying, and apparently they were looking forward to the Sunday meeting (and lots of curry, and dinosaur park, …

It was good to have a room full, and to have gifts of the Holy Spirit following a time of praise. A tongue from Bob, and an interpretation from Cliff. A prophecy from Barry H. A word from Frank, and the laying on of hands and prayer for Connie, Malcolm, Barry H and Sue. Thank you to Cliff for leading …

There was a touch of deja vu. Last week, Connie told us she needed prayer, but after a time of praise, she felt so much better. This week, Sue told …

It was so good to have Billy and Wendy back with us, after a few weeks of home renovation. With usual exhortations, straight from the shoulder, Texas style. Connie was in such pain, and asked for prayer for healing. But we started with praise and worship, led by Bob. It was heavenly, and before long, Connie was testifying that the …

Some of our ‘often attenders’ were arriving with a new person, but were prevented by an accident. And then another ’often attender’ arrived with a guest. It’s so good to have a reasonably full room, even when people are away. Thank you Bob, for leading us to a heavenly place in our worship, Cliff for sharing from Matthew 24, Frank …

It was so good to have Bob and Connie back with us, and Thank you to Bob for leading worship. Testimony, sharing scriptures, prayer… there seemed to be one contribution after another. Thank you to Malcolm for leading communion, and all those who contributed to our time of prayer for those absent, especially for Sue, who makes such effort to …

With a few couples unable to be with us, we expected a smaller meeting. So how good to have Jilly and Alan with us again (just keep on coming), Sam (Shirlene’s daughter) and Winston from London. It would have been tight if all regulars had come too. We were still feeling somewhat emotional from the memorial service for Shirlene’s son …
