Delight!

It was so good to have Bob and Connie back with us, and Thank you to Bob for leading worship.

Testimony, sharing scriptures, prayer… there seemed to be one contribution after another. Thank you to Malcolm for leading communion, and all those who contributed to our time of prayer for those absent, especially for Sue, who makes such effort to be with us when she can.

I have been looking at what the Lord teaches us about prayer. It is not good to take one scripture, for example, ‘Ask what you will in my Name…’ and base all prayer on that. There is much other teaching on prayer, and we need to see each in the context of the rest.

Psalm 37:4 encourages us to ‘Delight in the Lord’ with a promise that He will give us the desires of our heart. ‘Delight’ – spend time enjoying His presence, open your heart to Him, tell Him you love Him, don’t rush, laugh with Him.

Why don’t I always do this? Life can be too full (prune it), I can be too busy ( then I am too busy), priorities (get them right), urgent matters excluding the important things. Schedule prayer time, like you would any other appointment. And the desires of His heart will become yours – and yours His.

Our next meeting is Bible study in Catfield on Thursday. And we meet n Frettenham next Sunday morning.

Cosy!

It was cosy! Already people are going on holiday, and indeed we will be by next Sunday. Well, at conference.   After a time of praise, worship and prayer, Ann shared from Luke 1:37. With God, nothing is impossible. She further shared about the joys of fellowship, and that with Christians, regardless of denomination, we are family.   We looked at Psalm 84. Yes, how lovely to be in God’s presence. The Living God - He is alive, answers prayers, heals, changes lives. We looked at Psalm 87 - the family of God is family, and is drawn from all nations.   Wendy led communion.   Barry H took us through 1 Corinthians 13.   There is no meeting next week.
