Meetings

Prayer – and anointing!

I love the people of God. I once told a friend  that my greatest joys, AND my greatest griefs, were in the Church. “Of course,” he replied. “That’s because we are family.” For Wendy and myself (Barrie), life has been a little unsettling recently, with church, businessmen and family issues needing to be addressed. So how lovely when people email or …

Praise, Prayer and Word

Always good to meet to worship with other believers. Powerful prayer from Marcus, that the Presence of God would descend, and that we would experience Jesus in our midst. Barry H largely recovered from shingles, and Shirlene back from the USA. Great praise – always! Thank you Tim for leading us in breaking bread together, for testimony from Anne, and …

Return to Go!

Weather, sickness and the recent mini-exodus left us lonely yesterday (Sunday) morning. Barry H still has shingles, Tim had surgery this week and cannot drive for a while, and another emailed with gall bladder problems. Marcus was preaching elsewhere. Shirlene is back from the USA, but with the gales, trees were down and she was best at home. So Wendy …

Goodbye!

People are leaving us! We are so sorry to say Goodbye to Malcolm and Moira, and thank them for many years of input, support, love and friendship. We wish them well at Soul Church, an excellent place to be. This morning saw a few more people than we expected. As usual, praise, worship, prayer, communion, and so many people participating. …

Presence!

With several regulars away, on holiday or tending sick relations, it was a joy to have Cliff and Sue with us on Sunday morning. They had been before, to our Christmas meeting. Thank you to them for sharing into the meeting, and to Tim for leading us in breaking bread together, and for praying for my ear. (Which is improving …

Carols!

It’s Christmas. Almost! So we sang carols, read the Christmas story, and particularly focussed on those who are on our hearts at this time.  Shirlene had emailed good news about the family in the USA where she will be for Christmas. Billy had had a fall, and was at home recovering.  And then there are others known to us, one bereaved …

Turkey!

A big Thank-you to Malcolm for arranging our meeting last Sunday, and for the Christmas dinner that followed. Around 20 of us gathered for praise and worship led by Bob, and for breaking bread together led by Malcolm. An excellent word from Marcus on gold, frankincense and myrrh. A Christmas lunch at The Cottage in Thorpe, with brass band playing …

Soup!

It’s only coincidence, I’m told, that several people have stopped coming to worship with us since Wendy stopped cooking main course meals, and produces a variety of soups, a variety of breads, and puddings on Sundays. So we were probably down to single figures this morning – but a wonderful time of praise, worship, prayer, sharing and communion. And much …

Christmas and Chinese Coming!

It was so good to see Wendy doing a ‘Sunday School ‘ again. The story, and colouring a picture, of Noah’s ark. Thank you to all who came and all who participated. We received an email from Shirlene at 8am, saying she was seriously unwell, and yet she arrived! She stood on the word, and was healed. There are a …

Looking Back, Looking Forwards!

Once again, and for the first time in a few weeks, the room was full. After a time of praise, Tim led us into 2 minutes silence, looking back and honouring those who lost their lives in the 2 world wars. He then moved on to lead us in remembering the Lord Jesus, and His life given at Calvary, as …
