We Need the Guide!

It’s always good to have visitors, and we welcomed Michaela, who had been once before. It was Michelle’s birthday, and on Thursday, will be Shirlene’s birthday. We mentioned that Ann had requested prayer for her walking, which she had recently found difficult. I reminded people of this, but Ann interrupted me to say that she was now walking well again.

John Alam has recently been having mini-blackouts, and requests prayer.

Bob led a time of praise and worship, and many people prayed and read scriptures, and gave encouragements.

Barry H read most of Philippians 3 and part of chapter 4, and spoke especially of the Bible being a guide book through life, but of our need to also have ‘the Guide’, the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, we miss so much.

Cliff led us in communion. Mark had had a nasty allergic reaction yesterday evening, and had received emergency care and an anti-histamine injection. Well done Mark, for joining us this morning. We prayed for him at the close.

A large birthday cake was brought in, and 2 candles lit. They flared rather like Roman candles – Happy Birthday to Michelle and to Shirlene.

Next week, we have a guest speaker, Gill Bonner, from the Swanton Abbott community chapel. The morning meeting will be followed by a Liberty Lunch, to which all are invited. (Not been before, or not been for a while? – come along next Sunday, and enjoy lunch with us. No charge!)

There is no prayer meeting this week.

Cosy!

It was cosy! Already people are going on holiday, and indeed we will be by next Sunday. Well, at conference.   After a time of praise, worship and prayer, Ann shared from Luke 1:37. With God, nothing is impossible. She further shared about the joys of fellowship, and that with Christians, regardless of denomination, we are family.   We looked at Psalm 84. Yes, how lovely to be in God’s presence. The Living God - He is alive, answers prayers, heals, changes lives. We looked at Psalm 87 - the family of God is family, and is drawn from all nations.   Wendy led communion.   Barry H took us through 1 Corinthians 13.   There is no meeting next week.
