How good to have a room crammed full of people on Easter Sunday! I had tried to lure people from the village, with hot cross buns (Good Friday) and chocolate eggs (Easter Sunday) – in a way, I’m glad they didn’t come!!! Too full. As we took off in praise, young people started swaying with the music, elbowing each other and grinning. I smiled at them. But when testimonies were given, the swaying stopped and everyone was listening.
Sam had been shy and introverted, expecting modest work and modest pay in life. The risen Jesus has changed her, as she meets with government ministers and members of parliament, praying with them and having influence at the highest level.
Michelle was physically and sexually assaulted as a child, and taken into care. She was told she could never have children. How could she forgive? The risen Jesus really is alive and changing people. He changed Michelle, and when she met the man who had been most responsible for her childhood traumas, he told her that, in prison, he had become a Christian, and asked her forgiveness. She wholly forgave him. She has had 4 children. One has taken her own life, and here too, Jesus is bringing healing. She and husband Mark now reach out to others with Christian love.
I was an atheist, wanting my own way in life. The testimonies of others made me curious, and I seriously sought the truth. One day I became aware that I was not alone in my room. The risen Jesus was there, and I gave my life to him. He has healed me, used Wendy and me to heal others, and blessed us in so many ways.
Later, young and old hunted for eggs in the garden, and one remarked to me about the power of the testimonies. Well, Jesus is risen!
Our next meeting is for prayer on Thursday, and we are at Frettenham next Sunday morning.
