What is that expression about lightning striking twice in the same place? Around 6 weeks ago, our speaker was struck down with a flu like condition on the morning when he was due to come. And this last Sunday the same happened, except a different speaker, and it struck the evening before.
It was good to have the room almost full, and lovely to have Rod and Marjy with us. After praise and worship, a testimony of healing from Shirlene, prayers for those not present and some who were, and communion led by Mark and Michelle,
we looked at 1 Samuel 16:7. We look on the external, but the Lord looks on the heart. We considered 3 things the Lord likes to see when he looks at our heart.
Thankfulness. Psalm 107:1 – Give thanks too the Lord, for he is good. We have so much to thank the Lord for, and when we do, it pleases him and reminds us of all our blessings.
A submitted heart. Psalm 119:34 is the psalmist wanting to understand more, in order that he might please the Lord more.
Ezekiel 36:26 speaks of a new heart. We have hearts that are essentially dead until we receive a new heart from the Lord, which is essentially alive. And that gives us a new life, and is pleasing to the Lord.
It was quite tight around the dining room table, as we enjoyed salmon Wellington and chicken in mushroom sauce, followed by a huge variety of desserts.
The prayer meeting is at Catfield on Thursday.
Next Sunday, we are at Frettenham.
