I’ve never seen so many people in our sitting room engaged in active prayer. It was a meeting with a focus on healing. I felt the Lord was calling us to do this, and also, there are many in our fellowship with health issues.
We had a time of praise and worship, after which Wendy led communion. We then looked at scriptures concerning healing. At the resurrection we shall all be healed, but there are many foretaste’s of that in this life. One of the Lord\s names is – the Lord who heals you (Exodus 15:26) – and he healed many during the wilderness trek (psalm 107:20).
Jesus atoned for our sin, bringing new life, healing and health (Isaiah 53).
Jesus came and healed so many sick folk (eg. Mark 1:32-34), and sent out his disciples to anoint the sick with oil and pray for them (Mark 6:13). Before ascending, he told his followers to continue healing the sick (Mark 16:18). In James 5:14-16 the sick are told to go to the elders when sick. We don’t have designated elders yet, but believers can pray. We did.
Not all present were saved, but most people were up, anointing the sick with oil, laying on hands and praying. I have had a painful, malfunctioning left leg for 2 weeks, and was up in the night till 5.30am with severe pain before the meeting. At the end of the meeting, I could walk so much better, and no pain, though there have been twinges since.
We look forward to hearing more testimony from this meeting. Next Sunday we meet in Frettenham.
We shall soon be starting Bible studies in Heartsease (Norwich) and Aylsham. 2 Alpha courses continue in Catfield.
