God Speaks Today!

It’s always good to see a new face, and we welcomed Faye yesterday morning. Shirlene had bumped into her during the week, and Faye had volunteered that her mother had told her, ‘You need God’. So Shirlene spent time with her, and brought her along to Liberty. It was such a pleasure to meet her, and we hope to see her again.

And what a joy to hear another lady tell us, “I’m almost there!” referring to her journey towards faith.

A great time of praise and worship, and lots of testimony. Thank you to Wendy for bringing such a relevant encouraging psalm (62), and to Cliff and Barry for testimony. Contributions from Michelle and Ann were appreciated, Bob gave very encouraging news about a relation, and Wendy led communion.

We looked at ways in which God speaks to us. We read parts of psalm 19. Creation yells at us – everybody can get the message that there is a Creator.

But he has also given us his written word, which gives more detailed revelation.

2 Tim.3:16 tells us that every word in the Bible is from God. It is true. It is absolutely reliable. If we believe this, and if we love God, we will read it eagerly. If we don’t, then either we don’t believe it’s his word, or we don’t really love him. And the ultimate revelation by which God speaks to us is through Jesus. He is the image of the invisible God (Col.1:15) – he shows us and teaches us what God is like.

Jesus has changed my life and my destiny. Reading his word is like tasting honey, says the psalmist in psalm 19. Sweet, and nourishing. And totally reliable.

To young Christians – read, know and live the New Testament. And when you have time, read the Old Testament too!

Next meeting – Thursday – prayer at Catfield, 2pm.

Friday – Indian restaurant, evening. 14 going. Merchants of Spice ll. 7.30pm

Sunday – Frettenham. 10.30am.

Cosy!

It was cosy! Already people are going on holiday, and indeed we will be by next Sunday. Well, at conference.   After a time of praise, worship and prayer, Ann shared from Luke 1:37. With God, nothing is impossible. She further shared about the joys of fellowship, and that with Christians, regardless of denomination, we are family.   We looked at Psalm 84. Yes, how lovely to be in God’s presence. The Living God - He is alive, answers prayers, heals, changes lives. We looked at Psalm 87 - the family of God is family, and is drawn from all nations.   Wendy led communion.   Barry H took us through 1 Corinthians 13.   There is no meeting next week.
