Get Wisdom!

It’s always lovely to have family staying, and also when they join us on a Sunday. And so it was good to have Fiona with us this morning. Bob forgot to put his clock back, and then overslept – and so arrived on time! But I led worship. Thank you to all you contributed, in readings, prayer, leading communion (Barry H) and with words of encouragement.

Barry H read a number of verses from Colossians 1. Paul prayed that the Christians in Colossi might have wisdom. Barry pointed out that in order to have wisdom (which involved making a choice), one needs to know the facts.

To make good spiritual choices, get to know the Bible. The facts there are absolutely true, and so good decisions can be made based on them.

Such wisdom leads to honouring and pleasing the Lord, and in personal growth (verse 10). We need to be filled with God’s power and joy, and this will result in endurance and patience. We have been delivered from darkness and brought into light, but there is an inheritance awaiting us. We do not see this clearly, but one day we will enjoy it.

We prayed for a number of people who were absent.
