Get in the cave!

We love it when guest speakers join us, and we love Liberty Lunch. Yesterday, the speaker had to cancel for health reasons, and our new cooker, installed Friday, wouldn’t work. But we have a sovereign God, and he was not caught out. An evening trip to a kitchen shop, and a car full of new saucepans, frying pans, steamers… sorted out the oven. And the rest was looked after by the Holy Spirit!

So lovely to have younger people with us, mentioning no names (except Faye, Emma, Malachi!). Always good to have Frank with us, but without Alfie. John from the village looked like he’d always been here.

Thank you to all who contributed. A tongue from Michelle, and an interpretation from Wendy L. Some present had never heard such things before, and so I gave an explanation, which then flowed seamlessly into a prophesy. (I didn’t know the Holy Spirit did that).

Shirlene led communion.

Frank asked for 2 songs, and read part of 1 Corinthians 12. Cliff gave words of encouragement, as did Ann.

We looked at 1 Samuel 22:1,2. Israel had an evil king, Saul, and some of the people fled to David, who was in a cave in part of the land called Adullam. The distressed, discontented and debtors came to David. Saul is a picture of Satan, and David is a picture of Jesus. The people who came to David are a picture of us.

The cave is the Church, meaning God’s people. One day Saul as defeated, and David returned as king with the people who had gone to him. But they had been transformed, and ruled with him. Some people had not come to David, and some went to him, but then lived in the wilderness. This church is our cave of Adullam, where needs are met and people are changed. Be a part. Eternity awaits!

There were birthday cakes and candles. Michelle gave each of us a present. So generous.

Wendy cooked salmon tarts and steak pies, and Sue brought 4 puddings.

THERE IS NO MEETING NEXT WEEK. PLEASE DON’T COME!

Our next meeting is in Frettenham on Sunday 26th October.

Cosy!

It was cosy! Already people are going on holiday, and indeed we will be by next Sunday. Well, at conference.   After a time of praise, worship and prayer, Ann shared from Luke 1:37. With God, nothing is impossible. She further shared about the joys of fellowship, and that with Christians, regardless of denomination, we are family.   We looked at Psalm 84. Yes, how lovely to be in God’s presence. The Living God - He is alive, answers prayers, heals, changes lives. We looked at Psalm 87 - the family of God is family, and is drawn from all nations.   Wendy led communion.   Barry H took us through 1 Corinthians 13.   There is no meeting next week.
