After recent sick cars and sick people, it was good to have the room comfortably full. And good to have Shirlene back, and Bob leading worship again.
I gave a brief report on proposing to have some of our meetings further east, as people now come from Caister, Catfield, Ludham, Martham and Pakefield, whilst retaining meetings here as we have people from Hellesdon, Catton, Heartsease, Aylsham, etc. We are also planning on moving the weekly prayer meeting from time to time.
Another move is the contact that seems to have ‘just happened’ with 4 other house churches in the county.
Although I am reaching out to have a degree of personal fellowship with the leaders, we must retain our vision of generally meeting in homes, churches being autonomous, no paid ‘ministers’, and open ministry, whilst identifying practically with the wider Church, and especially those who share the vision.
We do not see a hierarchical structure in the New Testament, whilst welcoming support and encouragement, without interference. Maybe there will be joint regional meetings.
We enjoyed praise and worship. Once again, there was a distinct sense of Jesus being with us. Cliff led communion. We prayed for absent people. We looked at the healing of Peter’s mother-in-law. Jesus brought healing, and then she prepared lunch. We are brought to new life by Jesus, but there is then work for which we are equipped. If we take our Christian life seriously, we should know, or seek to know, the nature of the call on our lives, and pursue it.
We closed with praise and prayer, and then started praying for the sick……
I had prepared curry and rice for breakfast for a number of men yesterday (church, village, golf, various), and though a lot was consumed, there was so much left over that 10 of us stayed after the meeting and enjoyed it for lunch.
Next Sunday, we meet in Frettenham.
On Sunday 9th February, the meeting is at Catfield.
On Sunday 16th February, Jonathan and Paige are with us, and everyone is invited to stay for a Liberty Lunch.
