Choose Jesus!

We had a guest speaker booked, but a health issue prevented him from coming. But Jesus came!

We started with prayer for our missing speaker and his wife, as they are both really unwell at present. Also for our friends Malcolm and Moira, meeting with their family on the 20th anniversary of their son Neal going to be with Jesus. Also, for Bob now settling in at the Old Vicarage residential home in Ludham.

Praise, worship, prayer, encouraging words.

We looked at John 10.1-11, and in particular, verse 10. Satan comes to harm us, but Jesus comes to do us good. Choose Jesus!

Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He steals joy from the unsaved, and if possible, from the children of God. Choose Jesus! People are seeking happiness, but it is so connected to ‘happenings’. Leave the place of happiness, and it goes. But joy from the Lord is deeper and permanent. We can be unhappy, and yet find that the joy of the Lord is a strength to us. Choose Jesus!

Satan killed the life that God gave Adam. It is restored through Christ, whereby we are connected to the source of life. Satan kills life, but Jesus gives abundant life. Choose Jesus!

Satan comes to destroy everything that is the Lord’s. He comes to destroy the Lord’s people. Both Jews and Christians. Those of these 2 faiths have been persecuted and martyred more than members of any other faith, and throughout history. But Jesus comes to bless. Choose Jesus.

Why is it that some believers soon lose the joy of salvation? Probably because they have chosen Jesus, but not left the old lifestyle, friendships, associations, behaviour patterns behind. Repentance should include a change of lifestyle in order to know the abundant life that Jesus brings. I testified to the joy Jesus gives, and of how I learnt from losing it through wrong associations early in my Christian life. Day by day we need to – Choose Jesus!

We closed with our theme song, ‘You won’t leave here as you came -in Jesus Name!’

Our next meeting is prayer in Catfield on Thursday, and then worship in Frettenham next Sunday.

Cosy!

It was cosy! Already people are going on holiday, and indeed we will be by next Sunday. Well, at conference.   After a time of praise, worship and prayer, Ann shared from Luke 1:37. With God, nothing is impossible. She further shared about the joys of fellowship, and that with Christians, regardless of denomination, we are family.   We looked at Psalm 84. Yes, how lovely to be in God’s presence. The Living God - He is alive, answers prayers, heals, changes lives. We looked at Psalm 87 - the family of God is family, and is drawn from all nations.   Wendy led communion.   Barry H took us through 1 Corinthians 13.   There is no meeting next week.
