With storms leaving many local country roads awash, I phoned some of our more rural members, and they stayed at home. But those who gathered had a good time of praise and worship, prayer and word. Wendy L led us in communion.
The smaller number also encouraged people who did not usually share at any length. Ann read some verses from psalms, and emphasised that the Bible is like no other book. She particularly drew our attention to the fact that the Lord is powerful, and likened to a Rock and a Fortress. She told us of how at times she did not know how she would have come through situations without the strength the Lord gives.
Frank then read from Matthew 7:24-27 and reminded us that we need to build our lives on the Rock that is Christ. He referred back to the previous week when David Adams had spoken about the foundation stone, the corner stone and the capstone. The passage emphasises DOING the words of Jesus, and not just hearing.
Everyone contributed, as we prayed for those absent, and especially Bob.
We meet for prayer on Thursday. Next Sunday, Marcus is with us and there will be a Liberty Lunch. All welcome.
