Intimacy with God – and barbecue!

Our Sunday morning meeting was held in Rackheath, at the home of Malcolm and Moira. Thank you to all who came and filled the room in their beautiful home.

Praise and worship, and prayers especially for Steve and Elaine following Steve’s 2 visits to the operating theatre at the N&N. There was a tongue and interpretation, and later another tongue and interpretation. We thank the Lord for manifesting his presence in so many ways, not least the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and to those who move out into this realm.

Malcolm led us in breaking bread together, and Shirlene spoke on the subject of intimacy with God. She spoke for a start from Hebrews 6, where we are told to move on and go deeper. She spoke of Adam and Eve, and asked ‘why did Adam not tell Eve to not listen to the serpent?’ We each have responsibility, and need to live responsibly. In our time with the Lord, we ned to avoid distraction, especially with regard to screens! We must be transparent with the Lord, who knows all about us anyway, and co-operate as we let him change us more into the the image of Jesus.

After the meeting, Malcolm and Moira provided what was probably the best barbecue I have ever been to. Rib-eye steaks, burgers, sausages, succulent pieces of chicken, bowls of huge prawns, corn on the cob, salads, and so much more. Shirlene brought a cake she had made, incorporating some of John Alam’s courgettes, plus fruit salad. In fact, the whole morning was a wonderful time, and we are all extremely grateful to Malcolm and Moira.

At the prayer meeting the previous week, it was felt that we should give a gift to Steve and Elaine, as Steve has had 2 operations and cannot work for some time. Most people present contributed generously, and the gift was taken round that evening.

This Wednesday, 22nd July, there is a Bible study at the home of Mark and Michelle. All welcome. 2pm.

Thursday is Bob’s funeral,  and a celebration of his life. 11am at Limpenhoe church – burial, service and wake.

Next Sunday we meet in Frettenham.
