Supporting One Another

The meeting this week was hosted by Shirlene in the Sanctuary at Catfield. Cliff led the meeting and communion, and Shirlene spoke on the subject of compassion. Wendy and I were away at the Christian Dental Fellowship annual conference.

We have been made aware of serious needs on the WhatsApp group this week. And this happens from time to time, and shows how valuable the group is. I outlined the Biblical pattern of people loving God and loving their neighbour.

The people of God (the Church) are called to gather together to worship the Lord, share together concerning his word, pray, etc. But this is also the place where many needs can be met, and so we do encourage those with needs to come to the meetings, and for those wanting to help to do so too. If you are not there you cannot be helped so effectively, and nor can you help others!

Problem – If you are in need (sickness, depression, relationship or financial problem, etc), you probably don’t feel like going to the meeting. We’ve all been there. The temptation is to stay at home, but most of us have found that by actually making the effort, we feel loads better at the end of the meeting. I guess the Lord touches us! And for some of those who can be the ones to help others, there are sometimes temptations to stay from the meeting because of family, invitation to go out, or a thousand other things. But by turning up, you can bless others and be blessed yourself in the process.

We meet in Frettenham next Sunday morning.

This Wednesday – Bible study at the home of Mark and Michelle, 2pm.
