Sadness, Prayer, Words, etc

There was an air of sadness with Marcus having relocated to heaven on Tuesday, and we thanked God for Marcus and his ministry, and prayed for Lesley.

Mark and Michelle were ill with the season’s tummy bug. More prayer. Sue was in too much pain to come. More prayer.

Praise and worship, interspersed with prayers and readings. Thank you, Frank, for stepping in, as always, and requesting songs. 

Barry H spoke of how the Lord had spoken to him, many years ago, through scripture to confirm that he should move to a different church. If people sought the Lord more often before changing church, changing jobs, changing… so many things, including marriage partners, the Church would be so much more powerful and influential.

He then continued to 1 Corinthians 2 and spoke on the way Paul relied, not on human wisdom or persuasive speech, but on the power of the Holy Spirit. And so should we.

Cliff led communion.

We were running quite late, in human terms, but that is not our primary consideration. We sang a couple more songs of praise, and adjourned to the dining room for spaghetti Bolognaise and a selection of puddings.
