A Lively and Anointed Time!

Apologies for being late with this. It was great to have Mike from Cornwall with us, and Malcolm and Moira joined us too

Lively praise and worship! Malcolm led communion.

Mike shared about being in a pit, and the Lord delivering his people. He gave examples, including Joseph and his brothers, Joseph in Egypt, and Jeremiah. We have the same God as Joseph and Jeremiah, and can trust him to bring us through the various pits we land in during our lives.

Barry H read Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; and then the story of Jesus healing the man with the withered hand in the synagogue, in Mark 3. The hand can represent our gifting. What we can do. Maybe we have not found our gifting yet. Maybe we have neglected it. Maybe we need to use it more. But the place where we will meet Jesus and get the gift up and running is amongst God’s people. That’s where we especially find Jesus. In the synagogue then, and now in the meeting of church.

Following the close of the ‘formal’ part of the meeting, a number of people asked for prayer. Well, Jesus had not left, and there was anointing with oil, and the praying seemed particularly anointed and powerful.

Eventually we adjourned to the dining room for bring and share lunch, and some stayed well into the afternoon.

Cosy!

It was cosy! Already people are going on holiday, and indeed we will be by next Sunday. Well, at conference.   After a time of praise, worship and prayer, Ann shared from Luke 1:37. With God, nothing is impossible. She further shared about the joys of fellowship, and that with Christians, regardless of denomination, we are family.   We looked at Psalm 84. Yes, how lovely to be in God’s presence. The Living God - He is alive, answers prayers, heals, changes lives. We looked at Psalm 87 - the family of God is family, and is drawn from all nations.   Wendy led communion.   Barry H took us through 1 Corinthians 13.   There is no meeting next week.
