It was good to have Michelle and Mark back with us, but sad that Wendy L was too ill to get off the bed.
We had a good time of praise, worship, prayer, and readings. Ann shared from John 7 – if a person believes and is thirsty, Jesus will bring satisfaction and fulfilment to them. She spoke of a lady who had been demonised, and of her deliverance. Satan brings torment, but Jesus brings peace. The previous evening was Halloween – we need to be careful of the craftiness of the devil.
Michelle led communion, and I took bread and wine up to Wendy.
We considered psalm 23. I had read it 2 or 3 times at breakfast the previous morning, and the freshness impacted me. New truths can be exciting, but old truths can come with a freshness when anointed by the Spirit. Jesus is our Shepherd, and we will never really be in need. The need has been met, or we can ‘take it by faith’ – realise the truth of these verses and see Jesus meet the need. Green meadows, quiet waters, being led along the right paths – the Lord has a plan that will glorify Him and bring in the kingdom. He has done so much for me that I want to see that – Jesus glorified and the kingdom advancing, and so I want to follow the paths that will bring that about. We are in a fallen world, but even here, ‘in the presence of our enemies’, we can feast. Feed on the word and really enjoy it. Drink of the Spirit. And we will have abundant life with Him forever.
I have read that psalm hundreds of times, but when the Spirit comes upon the word, it lives, and one feels like reading it many more times still.
Wendy had prepared a salmon dish for us the afternoon before, and it simply needed cooking. And having done so, the first portion was taken up to Wendy!
We meet for prayer Wednesday afternoon at Catfield. Marcus’ funeral is at Earlham crematorium on Friday at 12.30p. We meet in Frettenham next Sunday morning.
