It’s always so good to see new faces, and especially when they ask if they can come again! Of course. Welcome Julie. And just at the end of the meeting, Lorna and Purgy (did I hear that right?). And good to have a dog back in the meeting (another newcomer), and a Moslem. Thank you Jesus!
What an amazing time, with me not having time in my personal devotions to read Proverbs 3 – and Michelle says “I want to read Proverbs 3”. And then Barry H speak of the man with a pitcher of water, and Ann reads Psalm 42.1 about the deer thirsting for water. The Lord was saying to us – “I am here in this room with you, and you are in the right place at the right time”.
Everybody participated, it seemed. We looked at Gen.11.31-Gen.12.3. Abraham had a call.
What is your call? Wait on God and know your call – it will help you function effectively. He was called from Ur (in the east) to Canaan (in the west) – but the Lord took him to Haran (in the north). Be prepared for detours. I shared how my call is to ‘Church’, but I was clearly led into FGB, where I learnt a lot, and then quite suddenly, the Lord called me back to Church. And here I am.
Note that Abraham stayed in Haran until Terah died. Sometimes something has to die before we move on. If your spiritual life is at a standstill, consider whether something needs to die.
Frank brought a number of short, important points – and songs.
We enjoyed a barbecue together, some indoors and some in the garden, and people lingered, enjoyably, well into the afternoon.
Next meeting – Bible study on the Heartsease, Norwich on Wednesday 2.30pm.
Prayer meeting in Catfield, Thursday 2pm
Next Sunday, we are in Frettenham, and Peter Dunn from BIGLIFE is speaking, followed by a barbecue. Bring your friends.
