Waiting on the Lord!

After a time of worship, we waited on the Lord. It is subjective, but we felt the Holy Spirit brought the presence of Jesus close to us. A number of members have had serious health issues during the past week, and we spent time praying into these.

We looked at Genesis 12. 1-3, the call of Abraham. He was told to leave the land where he had been living, and step out with God, heading for a new destination.

We too are called to leave our past, and walk with the Lord into a new life. The promises He makes us are wonderful, but the challenge is to ‘live a new life’. Bad language and the use of obscenities might go almost overnight at conversion, but many immature Christians in today’s culture find it difficult to leave the old life behind.

One could speak about other more serious areas of sin, but the truth is – we cannot expect to enjoy the promises and move in power if we continue living like those in the world.

Wendy L led us in breaking bread.

Thank you to Shirlene for sausage casserole, to Michelle for rice, and Cliff and Sue for puddings.

Next week we meet at Malcolm and Moira’s home for worship and barbecue. Please let them know if you intend to go, because of catering.
